What's in the Name?
"Tanga is a Persian word with four meanings:
straight; a green valley; the road besides a mountain river; and a farm on a rolling hill or mountain.." Mr. M. Ajam stated
this in a letter in the East African newspaper of 16th July 2001. He further added, "More than 1,000 years ago, some Iranians
migrated to the East African coast. The traveller Ibn Batuta came across them in 1321".
